Sausage Links or Patties Recipe
Ingredients:
For Sausage Patties or Links:
1 pound (450g) ground pork (or ground chicken/turkey for a lighter option)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds (optional, for extra flavor)
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
1-2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Sausage Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried sage, fennel seeds, and red pepper flakes.
Add maple syrup for a hint of sweetness if desired.
Mix well using your hands or a spatula until the spices are evenly distributed.
2. Shape the Sausage:
For Sausage Patties: Take a small handful of the mixture (about 2 tablespoons) and shape it into a round, flat patty. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
For Sausage Links: Roll small portions of the mixture into cylindrical shapes, resembling traditional sausage links.
3. Cook the Sausages:
Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add a small amount of oil if the meat is lean.
Place the patties or links in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side for patties, or roll the links frequently to cook evenly.
Cook until the sausages are browned on the outside and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
4. Serve:
Transfer the cooked sausage to a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess grease.
Serve hot alongside eggs, toast, or your favorite breakfast items.
