Crispy Hash Browns Recipe
Ingredients
2 large potatoes (Russet is ideal)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika for seasoning
Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes
1. Peel the potatoes and rinse them under cold water.
2. Grate the potatoes using a box grater.
Step 2: Remove Excess Moisture
1. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth.
2. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible. This step is crucial for crispy hash browns.
Step 3: Season the Potatoes
1. Transfer the dried grated potatoes to a bowl.
2. Add salt, black pepper, and any optional seasonings you prefer. Mix well.
Step 4: Heat the Pan
1. Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of oil or butter and let it melt.
Step 5: Cook the Hash Browns
1. Spread the grated potatoes evenly in the skillet.
2. Press them down gently using a spatula to form a thin layer.
3. Cook for 4–5 minutes or until the bottom turns golden brown and crispy.
Step 6: Flip and Cook the Other Side
1. Carefully flip the hash browns using a spatula.
2. Add another tablespoon of oil or butter if needed.
3. Cook the other side for another 4–5 minutes until golden and crispy.

1. Remove the hash browns from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
