Ingredients


4 slices of bread (preferably thick and slightly stale)


2 large eggs


½ cup milk


1 tablespoon sugar (optional)


1 teaspoon vanilla extract


½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)


A pinch of salt


2 tablespoons butter (for frying)


Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruits (for serving)


Instructions

1. Prepare the Egg Mixture

1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

2. Ensure the mixture is smooth and the sugar (if added) is dissolved.

2. Soak the Bread

1. Heat a skillet or non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of butter to coat the surface.

2. Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated but not soggy.

3. Cook the Bread

1. Place the soaked bread on the preheated skillet.

2. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and slightly crispy.

3. Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices, adding more butter as needed.

4. Serve and Garnish

1. Transfer the cooked French toast to a serving plate.

2. Drizzle with maple syrup, dust with powdered sugar, or top with fresh fruits like berries or bananas.

3. Serve warm and enjoy!
